Thank you once again for the lovely stay. Geoff and I had a very relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was very comfortable, the view outstanding and we really enjoyed the personal touches (especially the home baked shortbread!). We would have no hesitation in recommending Hilltop Views to family and friends.
Clean, new, great bed. No desk but solid dining setting with proper adult sized chairs. Well insulated – we had no need for heating even when cold outside. Lovely garden – watch Tuis from the kitchen window! A track down through native vegetation leads to a lookout deck, beautiful at dusk when Tuis are calling, a joy! Jan and Paul attended to all our needs and Jan did a small load of washing for us. Hilltop Views is set in the peace and quiet of the countryside, but central to the following attractions which we recommend: Hobbiton dinner/ tour, Maungatautari Sanctuary guided walk (Sanctuary Mountain, it has wild birds, able to breed safely here protected by the largest pest proof fenced area in the world), Arapuni swingbridge. Te Awamutu museum has a permanent Neil and Tim Finn display as well as a beautifully presented display revealing some of the intriguing history of local Tainui people. It holds the very old Uenuku carving. Ah, and if you like big carvings visit Totaroa.
Great location. The overseas guests I was hosting were impressed with the hospitaility. The clear night and fantastic view of the stars was a bonus. My guests enjoyed the novelty of the farming location, with the piece of native bush being another new experience.
Paul and Jan were welcoming hosts. The accommodation was top class and one of the best we came across during our four week trip. The garden is well worth exploring, we enjoyed sitting looking out over the views in the evening after a day's exploring.
Parents who have their children competing are now staying with us and enjoying the experiences!
There are many reasons that people visit us here in the Cambridge/Karapiro area but everyone tells us they have had a great visit and want to return.
